Weekly Style Recap & Gratitude: June 10 – 14, 2024

Happy Friday, all! I hope you all had a good week. It’s been good for me for the most part, but I’ll admit that I was feeling a bit ‘meh’ yesterday. Not sure why, but doing better today!

If you hadn’t read last week’s recap blog post about Microsoft’s Recall feature coming to Windows in the future, Microsoft apparently listened to what I had to say, and have severely backtracked on things.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? In a nutshell:

  • MS creates new gizmo for Windows called ‘Recall’ that allows you to go back and view ANYTHING you ever did on your computer at a particular point in time: web pages, documents, passwords, financial/personal data, private chats, etc. (get the picture that this is bad?)
  • MS says Recall is turned on by default
  • MS also says that it will be available to everyone using new Copilot+ computers
  • Cybersecurity researchers and community at large dig into it, say it’s very very insecure, other users of the computer can view that data, and even extract it over the internet through nefarious means
  • MS says, “ruh roh!” and backtracks on nearly everything about it: turns it off by default, secures data a bit more, and says only insider test folks can use it for now

And, now you know. You’re welcome.

Sure, it sounds really neat and amazing, but to me, it also sounds really creepy at the same time. I digress.

Let’s move on to my list o’ gratitude for this week.

Last, and certainly not least, a look back at what I wore to work this week. I hope you enjoy them. Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
