Some Life Update Stuff

Hey all,

Yep, I’m still here. Still alive. Still working. Still learning. Thought I would post something on here to that effect to let everyone know that I still exist. 😊

Yes, I’ve been playing around with the look of my blog (AGAIN), because I don’t think that I’ve really got that creative/design thing down just yet. I wasn’t really happy with the color scheme that I had previously, and decided to scrap it all, and use one of the stock color palettes that came with this blog theme. Have to say, I don’t really hate how it looks. Instead, maybe I’ll toy with accent colors here and there, I don’t know yet…

You may or may not have noticed that I’ve taken a pause on posting of outfits for the foreseeable future. After the election here in the U.S., I couldn’t really find it in myself to do much of anything, especially post outfit-related stuff. Additionally, my schedule between trainings, remote days, and holidays, I’m barely going to be in the office much as well, so any outfits I did post would have been sparse. As it stands, I’m looking to try and resume things, starting after the new year. I’ll admit that I’ve been really stuck in a creative rut, and haven’t been able to dig up any kind of creative energy in myself for quite some time, even before taking this pause.

Whoa, strong feelings of déjà vu just as I was typing that last paragraph…

On the training front: hoo boy, have I been busy. Our school was selected by Amazon to receive free training, which had to be completed by December 1st. Since I’ve had a tiny bit of experience with AWS (having migrated my blog over to it), I jumped on the chance and signed up for THREE 3-day classes. They are:

  • Architecting on AWS
  • Cloud operations on AWS
  • Security engineering on AWS

The first course ran from October 28-30, the second course was just this past Tuesday-Thursday (November 12-14), and the final course is next Monday-Wednesday (November 18-20). The classes have been extremely informative, and there’s A LOT of information thrown at you. Sadly, until I have an opportunity to do some real-world work with it, I’m not going to retain it. I’m hopeful though, because we are trying to work with our research labs to move out to using the cloud for data and computing needs, as opposed to their current method of hoarding computers and storing all of their data under their desks (cringe).

Ankle-gate continues. I am very sad to report that I am likely going to need surgery to repair the tendons (or is it ligaments? I just cannot keep the two straight). My foot frequently becomes sore, especially when at rest, and the last time I had to hurry across a crosswalk, my ankle did some complaining about it. I had it in my head that I’d have the surgery and recovery while out on vacation, but LOL, I was not being realistic in my thinking, as I’ve heard that folks are waiting weeks/months for consultation visits before even having any kind of surgery.

Well, I think that’s enough for now. If anything else occurs to me (please creativity, come back to me!), I’ll be sure to post about it. If I don’t write about anything sooner, I wish all of you a wonderful holiday season.

Terry
