Secure, in Style – Outfit Recap: January 23 – 27, 2023

We are FINALLY at Friday! It’s been a rather busy and LOOOOOOOONG week. It’s also been rather drama-filled (thankfully, none involving or directed at me). I’m more than ready to get out of here!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you probably have seen me complain about broken apps and completely hosing my workflow.

Don’t follow me over there? Here’s the lowdown:

I use an app on my iPad called Focos to blur the backgrounds of my outfit photos. It’s AMAZING. I can fine tune where things are blurred when it doesn’t quite do it correctly.

Several months ago, there was an update to the app that didn’t completely break the app, but made it much more annoying to use. See, I use my iPad attached to my Magic Keyboard, so it largely stays in landscape mode. Well, the “update” made it so the app ONLY opened in portrait mode, no matter which way I was holding my iPad. So, part of my workflow had to now include grabbing my iPad and holding it in my hand to blur the photos. I submitted a bug report with the developer back in November. Initially, they were very quick to respond to ask for more information about the app version, model of iPad, iPadOS version, etc. Then …. NOTHING. Radio silence.

Fast forward to earlier this week. I FINALLY receive an email back from them, apologizing for the delay, and telling me that they have just released a new version of the app, suggesting that I install it to see if the problem went away.

Guess what??

Nope, it didn’t go away.

What’s more? The “update” made the toolbar DISAPPEAR from the app, so I can only do BASIC blurring. Sooooo, now the app has become completely useless to me. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Luckily, the app also has an iPhone version, so now my workflow looks like this:

✅ – Edit photos on iPad
✅ – Move to iPhone to blur background
✅ – Move BACK to iPad to add graphics and prep for social media

Not very efficient, huh? I immediately replied to the developer’s response email to let them know that the app is now a whole lot worse and unusable. Who knows how many months it will take to hear from them again. In the meantime, I’m on the hunt for another really good app that can blur backgrounds that also let me fine tune things. No such luck so far. 😔

ANYWAY, now that you know ALLLLLLL of that, here’s a look back at what I wore to work this week. I hope you enjoy them!
